All in a day

Braelynn is offically crawling and we are nowhere near being babyproof! Today is the first time we've seen her actually crawl...and she was all over the place. She kept trying to get into things she shouldn't - like cords and the humidifier...we'd move her away and she'd go right back. I think she has the memory of an elephant! The real fun has now begun :)

Gennie's getting a promotion and changing state departments. As of July 21st she'll be working at the California State Teacher's Retirement System.

That's about it for now.

Time Flies

So here we are with a 9 1/2 month old daughter! It's hard to believe how fast time flies when you have a child! Denny is doing good he has gone through his 1st degree for becoming a Mason. Gennie is done with her Army school, she did really good, but is glad it's over. Work is good for the both of us...but CA sucks - might be going to 3 furlough days instead of 2.

Braelynn is growing by leaps and bounds every day. She sits herself up and is scooting and rolling all over the place. She still doesn't really crawl, but we're ok with that since the house is still not baby proof. She took her 1st field trip to the Sacramento Zoo. She did great even though she was SO tired.

We took our 1st family vacation to Las Vegas so Gennie could go to Nevada Grand Assembly for Rainbow Girls. It was her 10 year reunion. We flew from Reno to Vegas - Braelynn's 1st plane ride(s). She did awesome! Gennie nursed her during the take-offs and she nursed/slept the whole time, except on the flight down to Vegas, she did wake up during the decent, but she didn't even show the slightest sign of anything effecting her. She is such a trooper!

Dinner is ready so I better get off the computer. I'll try to write again sooner than last time.

8 months and growing

Not a whole lot to update besides Denny getting hired with the state. We have been busy with work and Army stuff, that we haven't been able to get on the computer much. We did have a couple of visits from Denny's family the last few weeks. His aunt and uncle came by a few days, then one of his cousins and his family. We all had a pretty good time and a great big dinner together.

Denny is working in the same building with the CDFA (California Dept. of Food and Ag) in the Pest Exclusion dept. It's a seasonal position that is full time, but it is for a short term. He does have a chance for a position upgrade after so many hours and is still sending out applications for other positions that are permanent. He seems to be liking things, and getting more familiar with what and how to do things behind a desk.

Gennie has been going to Army school for training on her new MOS (job title). She is in a Signal Unit that puts up antennas and satellite dishes for communications. She is doing great with her testing and is pretty close to the top of the class if not the top. All she is really doing is counting down the days she has left with the Army and can't wait to get out.

We took Braelynn to the park a couple weekends ago to play on the swing. She really loves it! Gennie would push her from the front and when B got back for her to push, Gennie would tickle her. B would laugh all the way back and smile swinging forward till she got tickled again and again. We think that if she could talk, she would tell us higher, higher, higher!! She seems to have no fear and fusses when it's time to go.

Easter

Braelynns first Easter and what a beautiful day. We took her to the park and had lunch then took a few picks. She had a good time trying to eat her plastic eggs and riding on a swing for the first time. All was good untill I decided to take her down the slide. She started out fine and smiling, then as soon as we got to the bottom, she melted down and started screaming and crying. Still not sure what happened or caused her to cry, but I don't think we will try that again anytime soon.

Time sure flies

Wow! It's been two years since we got married and Braelynn is gonna be 7 months old this week. Seems like just a few days ago that Gennie and I started chatting online.

Not much has been going on the last month, besides me getting laid off and Braelynn has 6 teeth now. She has her front four on the top and two front bottom and she can't stop chewing on everything she gets her hands on. I have been going crazy looking for work and taking two state exams. One was for an Office Technician and one for Office Assistant. I passed both exams and have been getting on the state website everyday looking for jobs I qualify for. Only got three applications sent out so far, but I got a few more double check on weather I qualify for.

Nothing exciting for our anniversary. We went to lunch at Joe's Crab Shack and had some great crab pots that we cracked open and inhaled. We also had my favorite and the best ever double dip. If you haven't tried it, it's the best tasting hot crab and cheese dip and an awesome spinach and artichoke dip. I could eat just that and be happy, but the crab pot with corn, potato's, shrimp, and sausage was yummy too.

Hope everyone else is doing well. We will have to start posting more often and add some more picks soon.

6 Months

Ok, so we have been too busy being parents, working and who knows what else to write I guess. Time truly flies even faster with a baby then it did before! So Braelynn turns 6 months old tomorrow, it's hard to believe! She is growing like a weed and is such a good baby. She weighs 17 lbs with her clothes on! She is sitting up relly well, only falls over when she isn't paying attention. She is eating rice cereal and does a good job eating - not too big of a mess. Her bottom two front teeth came in a little bit before she was 5 months old. One of her top front teeth is coming in now. She is sitting up in a high chair, we bought the Fisher Price Space Saver high chair that goes in a regular chair. So far so good with it! We've also converted to a convertible car seat. We got the EvenFlo Symphony carseat. It's rear facing and then forward-facing, converts to a booster and will hopefully last us years to come. So far the only thing we don't like about it is the head support for when she falls asleep, but we've taken the head support out of the old car seat and put it in this one which is working ok. Just last weekend she has started waving, although I don't think she realizes that she is doing it on purpose. She also started shaking her head "no" last weekend, and a lot of times it seems like she really knows what she's saying! Our internet connection is being stupid right now, so I'll have to add pictures later.

Month 4

Time for a 4 mo. update! Braelynn has had a cold all week so I took her to the Dr. to see if there was anything we could do for her. Nothing to do but let it take it's course. She was weighed in at 15.77lbs. a little over double her birth weight. She seems to be doing a little better now, it just hurts to hear her coughing and choking so hard.

A little products update: We were using the Playtex VentAir bottles, but they started leaking to bad after only a few months use. We tried getting new parts for them to see if it was just wear and tear, but they didn't work. We are now trying the Born Free vented bottles. So far all is good.
Also the terrycloth bibs work much better than any others. They absorb much better and wash up easier too.
We are now in search of a larger car seat that converts to a booster seat. If anyone has suggestions, let us know.

A little update on Gennie and I: Gennie lost her grandma on her dads side just before New Years. Work is steady but she was informed that the Governator has placed work furloughs on all state employees and possible I.O.U.'s on paychecks.
As for me, work is pretty good. The dental lab is keeping me busy and the radio station is a little slow, but it will be picking up soon. The ratings just came out and things look good with big jump from the previous postings. Other than work, not a whole lot going on.

Hope everyones year is going well so far.
